What to Expect on the South Coast
The waters around Poole and the wider Dorset coastline fish well throughout the year, with different species coming into range as the seasons change. Summer brings bass, smoothhound, rays and garfish, while autumn and winter are prime time for cod, whiting, dabs and flounder. Poole Harbour itself is brilliant for mullet and flounder on lighter gear, and the outer beaches such as Sandbanks and Bournemouth are well worth a visit when the conditions are right.
